How to Embed ZTC/OER Textbooks Using the Springshare LTI Tool

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. In your course shell, use the plus sign at the top of the left-hand column to add a new Content Area.
  2. Give it a name -- anything will do; maybe “Textbook”.
  3. Select the check box next to Available to Users and click Submit.
  4. Click on Textbook (or whatever name you provided for the content area) -- this will be at the bottom of the left-column by default.
  5. Use the Tools drop-down menu to select Hostos Library Content.
  6. Give your textbook a name -- anything will do; maybe as simple as “Your Textbook” and click Submit.
  7. Click on the link to Your Textbook (or whatever name you provided for the textbook).
  8. Click on Launch to engage the LTI Tool.
  9. Use LibGuides Site drop-down menu to select LibGuides - guides.hostos.edu.
  10. Use Content Type drop-down menu to select Full LibGuide.
  11. Click on the drop-down menu for Guide, and begin typing in the course number--be careful to select the guide with Textbook in the title, since it is possible there is a research guide for that course in addition to a textbook guide.
  12. Ignore the Guide Page drop-down menu and click Embed Content.
