Printer Troubleshooting | Multifunction Printer (Authentication)


Overview

Authentication errors occur occasionally on the Lexmark Multifunction Printer. Ultimately it means that the printer is not reaching the Pharos server to handle a request. (In this case, the request is for authentication when someone attempts a login.  This will occur whether the student is using the keyboard or card swiper to login. This problem is usually remedied by following these steps.

Steps

Step-by-Step Instructions


  1. Open the front panel and use the orange power button (located on the lower left, to side of the toner drums) to turn the printer off.
  2. Printer with side panel opened
  3. Unplug the Ethernet network Cable from the panel on the rear right side of the printer.
  4. Close up of Printer panel
  5. Wait 20-30 seconds.

  6. Plug the Ethernet Network cable back in.

  7. Use the power button to turn the printer back on.
  8. Printer authentication screen waiting to connect to server

  9. Wait till the screen stops showing the “Connecting to server message” and shows the Welcome message in the banner on the login screen before attempting to login again.
