Module 8: The Art of Teaching Reading and Writing & Developing Personal Writing Skills

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will be able to develop an awareness of the summary of each module and name of the standards formally assessed in each module.
  • Students will be able to identify the scaffolding techniques and routines for ELLs based on recent research on effective instructional methods for supporting ELLs.
  • "Students will be able to define what it means to presume competence in the learning potential of students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, and discuss the significance in doing so identify common barriers to literacy learning that often exist in classroom settings for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities and describe ways to remove these barriers;
     and discuss evidence-based ways to instruct students with intellectual and developmental disabilities in phonemic awareness, phonics, comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency."
  • Students will be able to think, learn, and understand more about the content area of language arts for young children through enhancement of their own writing skills.
  • Students will be able to identify preliminary, intermediate, and advanced search techniques
