English Language Learners - Resources: Welcome to the library!

Welcome

Hello!  This guide is for Hostos students who speak English as a second (or third, or fourth...) language and are either taking ESL classes or are students in the CLIP program.

There will be more pages added to this guide in the future.  If you have suggestions for helpful resources, please feel free to email me. Welcome to the library!

Using the library in person and from home

You are always welcome to come to the library in the A building to ask questions in person, as well as to email me.

In the library, the best place to get help with research is the reference desk, where there will always be a librarian to answer your questions.

Enter on the 3rd floor, walk down the stairs, turn left, and walk to the big desk in the room with computers.  Come us ask questions!

Using the library

The first step to using the library is to activate your Hostos ID card.

When you enter the library on the 3rd floor of the A building, go to the circulation desk (on the left side of the doors), and say that you would like to activate your ID.

After you activate your ID, you can borrow books and you can look at Hostos library databases on computers off-campus.

You should activate your ID at the start of every semester.
