Find Books

Library Catalog

Click on the Library catalog link above to search for a book. 

  • To search for a book at Hostos and other CUNY schools select the library from the list on the right-hand side of the catalog. 
  • You can search by Title or Author if you are looking for a specific book
  • For a Title search, exclude articles The and A
  • An Author search should follow this format: Last name, First name
  • Alternatively you can do an All Fields or Subject search for books on a topic. 
  • Then click the Search button
  • Depending on what type of search you executed, click on the TitleAuthor, or Subject of the book you are interested in finding

 

 

 

  

  • The record, or the book's descriptive information, will then display.  Click on Location and Call number (Blue Box) 

 

 

  • The next screen will give you the books location, call number, and status
  • The three Locations are: Stacks (circulates), Reference (library use only), or Reserves (two hour loan period)
  • The Call Number is a unique alpha-numeric number you will need to locate the book in the library
  • Regular Loan indicates the book is available to check-out.
  • If there is a date and time under the Due Date field, the book is currently checked-out
