Unit 3. Urban Planning and Infrastructure Goals

  • To introduce students to and develop their understanding of the planning and development of the Bronx’s infrastructure. This unit is aimed at helping students understand what is necessary to the creation of a community, and how those decisions shape their neighborhoods and personal lives. This unit will mainly focus on Bronx history during the 20th Century including issues surrounding gentrification and development to the present moment. The years from 1960-1995 will have a special focus as the South Bronx moves from devastation to resurrection.
