Start by looking for background information

Medical encyclopedias and handbooks are a good place to start your research. They provide overviews of topics and general informaton about diseases and disorders, including their causes, diagnosis, symptoms and treatment.  Below are a few good resources to help you start research for a paper or to supplement your textbook readings.

Find in-depth research articles in library databases

Once you have a solid understanding of the basics of your topic, search these databases for current research published in peer-reviewed articles.
