I'm ready to start looking for sources, but don't know where to begin.

Search 100s of Places at Once -- Across Disciplines:

• OneSearch --> a "discovery service" system set up to search many of our electronic databases AND our library catalog with a single search.

  • OneSearch results will include articles from encyclopedias, journals, newspapers, etc. as well as physical books in the libray.

  • Look for options in the right-hand column:

    • "Items Currently on the Shelf" = physical library books.

    • "Full Text Online"

    • Etc.

  • Full-text --> look for "Full Text Available" for electronic sources, or "Available at Hostos CC Stacks" for physical books.

• Google Scholar --> Uses a "Google-like" search, but focused on academic and government sources.

  • 6 EASY STEPS --> Set up your computer to access HCC library's full-text articles via Google Scholar:Use the Google Scholar link above and click on "Settings";

1. Click on the 3 lines next to "My Profile" on the left side of the screen;

2. Click on "Settings";

3. Click on "Library Links";

4. Search for "CUNY - Hostos Community College - Cengage Gale Full Text," hit enter, check off the check box;

5. Search for "Hostos Community Colleg - CUNY - Fulltext at Hostos," hit enter, check of the check box;

6. Hit "Save."

To access the online articles and e-books from the library databases, use your CUNYfirst username (firstname.lastname##) and password.
