For email, printing/photocopying, and signing into computers on campus

  • Looks like this: FLAST1234 (if F is the first letter of your first name and LAST are the first four letters of your last name). 
  • Hostos IT has it set to expire every 90 days. 
  • You can change it from anywhere (you do not have to be on campus)
  • You can go to Hostos Webmail and click on "forgot my password" or "look up student username", or use the links below.

For Blackboard, CUNY First, DegreeWorks, CUNY Portal, and the Virtual Bookstore

  • Looks like this: Firstname.Lastname11  (if 11 were the last two numbers of your EMPLID). 
  • You can change it from anywhere (you do not have to be on campus) 
  • You can go to the CUNYFirst login page and look up your username and change your password, or use the links below.log in window

Signing into the library website

You can always use the Hostos Library website without signing in to search with OneSearch for database articles, books, or videos, get advice through our Research 101 guide, or reserve a group study room

However, you will need to sign in in order to:

  • search an individual database in our A-Z list
  • read the full text of an online article
  • read an e-book
  • request that a book be sent from another CUNY library
  • request more time for a book you have borrowed from downstairs

To sign in:

  • Your Hostos ID must be activated at the library's circulation desk.****
  • You must activate your ID once every semester.
  • If you have already checked out a book from the library this semester, your ID should be activated.
  • When you want to read online library materials: enter the entire long number on your ID card as BOTH "barcode" and "password", if you are asked for a password
  • When you want to request more time for a book you have borrowed from the "stacks" (downtairs):
