Useful Citation Handouts

Tips for Using MLA or APA Style Citation!

  • Any information you use from a source whether a quotation, summary, or paraphrase (your own words) must be cited. When in doubt cite!

  • In-Text Citation is the first type of citation in your paper! This is a brief citation that will appear in the body of a paragraph after a sentence, quote or paraphrase.

  • The Works Cited page (MLA) and List of References page (APA) will appear at the end of your research paper and is a list of complete citations briefly cited in your paragraphs.

For more information on MLA or APA Citation see our Library Research Guide.
